Enclosure for telecoms equipment

(Manufacture to customer drawings)

This client was a private equity funded technology start up that approached us to help them source the castings for a variety enclosures they were developing for telecoms equipment (Radio Radio Heads). We were initially approached when they had a fairly mature 3D model of what they wanted.  We then gave some feedback regarding production feasibility and also commented on draft 2D drawings they had produced.

Finally the project was approved and as with many projects lead times became a critical issue.  The client needed to progress the project so quickly that we were also asked to supply them 1,000 small enclosures machined from solid, whilst we waited the 8 weeks for die casting tooling to be completed.

The customer accompanied us to China for first off tool approvals in order to avoid any delays in commencing production. Interestingly the customer wanted to keep a direct relationship with their castings supplier (us) but as each project went into production we ended up manufacturing the components in China and supplying direct to our clients 3rd party assembly subcontractor in Taiwan and Malaysia!
